Calamba Doctors’ Hospital employed the use of solar and wind power starting February 5, 2016 in support of green revolution. It has been the primate hospital to use about 150-kilowatt solar panels and a wind turbine in the Philippines. Dr. Domingo Amistad, CDH’s president, revealed also that the assurance for this project is also one solution on power shortages to comply with the needs of patients; hence efficient service would not be at stake. Also, cost-cutting in energy fees are definitely satisfied—evident since its primal testing. “For the first time, last month, we paid less than P1 million ($22,700) to Meralco. We only paid Php700,000 ($15,900) and that’s after only 15 days with solar power” -said Dr. Amistad on an interview with Rappler.

The hospital will be releasing Php16.5 M, in which 90% stands payable for 5 years. As per favorable results of solar & wind power in CDH, its board members are also planning to the adoption of renewable energy in 25 more hospitals.
